Engagement Spotlight: IT State of the Union
A utility client CIO engaged Windval to improve structure, communications, and processes for building a better view of the “state of IT,” including a view of key IT portfolios and the technology obsolescence risks within the environment. The engagement spanned the CIO and all direct reports, focusing on driving a new process for how IT engages executive leadership and brings key data and metrics to drive awareness, planning and budgeting, and overall IT needs to support ambitious growth plans by the organization over the coming years. Windval’s approach involved driving the client to tell a more concise, compelling story that highlighted IT results delivered, execution improvements, and a vision for continued partnership with the business. By decomposing a complex initiative into three workstreams, Windval was able to effectively manage progress, connect key dots between workstreams, and organize the effort to deliver the client’s desired outcomes.
The Windval team leveraged a structured, organized approach to engage all key stakeholders and build the new communication structures, promote consistent data and metrics within IT, and identify and articulate key risks within the IT portfolio – major initiatives, priorities, needs, technology obsolescence, costs – all aimed at supporting the CIO and client leaders as they drive a more consistent process for the future.
